How to use:

Don't apply too much downward pressure when cutting through the upper husk. Twist the hand lightly back and forth until you get through the upper husk. After you've cut through the upper husk you will feel the smoother wooden inner shell. Once you hit that turn the handle 360 degrees and start to apply more downward pressure until you feel you've cracked the wooden shell and push straight through.

Otherwise if you feel like you have cracked the wooden shell you can use a knife or thin hard instrument and ply open the top. Take the knife and push directly down on the crack area until you push straight through. Then lever the top off.

Try opening on lower bench surfaces. This way you will be applying light downward pressure from directly above, rather than on a high bench top that creates an awkward angle.

Make sure you don't let the base spin in your hand. If you can't keep a firm grip on the base, place the coconut between your knees or have someone hold it firmly for you.
